Circular economy is a promising solution to the environmental challenges we face today. The term characterizes an economic model that aims to keep resources in use for as long as possible, i.e. maximizing the value of goods by repurposing, refurbishing, repairing, rebuilding or partially reusing them after their primary application. With regard to energy- and emission-efficient manufacturing and (re)utilization, it is also important to develop, produce and process products, goods and materials that enable closed resource cycles through effective recycling of original raw materials at the end of each product life cycle. Many parameters and criteria must be taken into account in order to achieve a truly sustainable circular economy. Innovative approaches are therefore essential for the development of greener business models, products and services.
